We work in partnership with expert organisations to deliver these services, combining our strengths with others, always aiming at what’s best for service users. View our extensive list of national and regional delivery partners.
We have four service directorates: Substance Misuse and Health, Criminal Justice, Employment, and Recovery & Belonging.
We deliver advice, support and treatment in 6 community services and 17 prisons to help people achieve personal goals related to their use of drugs and alcohol, whether that is to use more safely, cut down, or become abstinent. We offer psychosocial support (therapeutic interventions on a one-to-one and group basis, including structured programmes) alongside clinical support (prescribed medication).
In prisons, we deliver mental health support (talking therapies) in 3 prisons and Reconnect (linking prison leavers with healthcare in the community) across the East of England.
We also offer confidential online support through our Reach Out chat service.
We are one the UK’s largest providers of commissioned rehabilitative services (CRS) for people on probation, working in 13 areas to help people to find accommodation, access addiction and mental health support, improve family relationships, and make new positive social networks.
We are also a delivery partner at HMP Millsike, a new prison focused on sustainability and rehabilitation, running dedicated house blocks for family and relationship services and programmes, health and wellbeing initiatives, and our ground-breaking ‘More Than My Past’ desistance-based programme.
We deliver a range of community-based programmes that develop employability skills, offer vocational training and qualifications, and support people who run their own business or want to start one. As well as ex-offenders and people in recovery from addiction, we also support young people not currently in education, employment, or training (NEET), individuals claiming Universal Credit, and those from other disadvantaged backgrounds. We work with a broad range of employers and partners to support people looking for work to secure a sustainable job placement.
We also offer employment opportunities through our social enterprises: Blue Sky Services and Amenity Landscaping (garden maintenance services).
Augmenting these services, we also deliver a range of additional and complementary support:
Recovery programmes – residential (Clouds House and The Bridges - Hull) and online (National Recovery Online Programme).
Recovery support – additional one-to-one and group support for individuals leaving drug and alcohol treatment who are pursuing abstinence, delivered by staff and peers in recovery.
Family support – programmes and services in prison and community settings that develop our service users’ relationships with loved ones, alongside direct support for family members affected by addiction (such as M-PACT and Recovering Families UK).
Housing – peer-based housing where people on similar pathways live together and support each other, and also independent living options through our Vision Housing model
Lived Experience Employment Pathway (LEEP) – structured training and support for current and former service users to gain experience, qualifications, and employment at Forward.
Many service users also become part of our Forward Connect peer community, a national network of local groups who meet and support each other, celebrate progress, and give back to local communities through volunteering.
