Talk to us

Through your support, we help people break free from addiction, secure stable housing, find meaningful employment, and find a steadier, more fulfilling way of life during - and after - serving a prison sentence.

Forward's work is laser-focused on helping people to realise that another life really is possible, that with the right sort of help they can transform their lives for good. Together, we create lasting change, join us in making a real difference.

Your support creates lasting change. You empower us to transform – and save – lives.

How your support makes a difference

By partnering with The Forward Trust, you can contribute directly by funding residential, prison, and community-based substance use programmes, recovery services, housing, support for families, and employment initiatives.

Whatever your choice, the impact is felt far and wide - by the individuals who need help as well as their family, friends and wider community. Your win-win has a ripple-effect.

“Thank you all in the team for being so generous believing in giving me this huge amount of money to get better I promise it was money well spent! I owe you all my life. I'm able to return home with the best Christmas present my kids have ever known, a clean new mummy.”

Unrestricted funding, particularly across many years, is the most powerful way to support our mission. It provides a lifeline to those in crisis, ensuring they can access the help they need to turn their lives around.

How grants can help our service users

Grants can also support specific high-impact projects, including:

  • Clouds House and The Bridges: Ensuring vulnerable individuals, often facing financial hardship, can access life-changing specialist residential addiction treatment and rehabilitation support through bursaries.
  • Employment programmes: Supporting disadvantaged individuals, including those with lived experience of addiction, offending, or unemployment, into meaningful employment and self-employment, through Enterprise's tailored business mentoring and training, and Blue Sky Service's grounds maintenance roles that tackle stigma and offer progression.
  • Family Support: Focusing on helping individuals and families affected by addiction and offending, both in the community and in prisons, by strengthening relationships, improving wellbeing, and delivering evidence-based programmes like M-PACT, Change-Up, and prison-based parenting initiatives that address the wide-ranging impact on the whole family system.
  • Housing: Supporting individuals with a history of addiction or offending by providing access to safe accommodation, tenancy sustainment, and peer mentoring.
  • Prison-based programmes: Breaking the cycle of addiction and crime through therapeutic recovery, parenting support, and resettlement services that empower incarcerated individuals to build fulfilling lives and reconnect with their families.
  • Recovery Support services: Empowering people to sustain long-term recovery from addiction and offending by providing tailored, person-centred support - including workshops, mentoring, recovery housing, and peer-led initiatives - that build wellbeing, confidence, and community connection (including Forward Connect) beyond treatment.
  • The Brink: Our vibrant alcohol-free recovery hub in Liverpool that empowers individuals affected by addiction and offending to rebuild their lives through community connection, specialist support, and transformative programmes.
