Recovering Families UK

What is Recovering Families UK?

The Recovering Families UK (RFUK) Online Programme is a 20-session programme that addresses the impact addiction can have on family members. It is an online, structured, educational group programme, which focuses on improving participants knowledge and understanding around addiction and provides helpful tools to support coping and wellbeing.

This free online programme supports adult family members and significant others to:

  • Develop an enhanced understanding of addiction – helping individuals to find new ways of coping and living with a loved one's addiction.

  • Improve self-care and wellbeing. We provide advice around better sleep routines, healthy eating, and exercise.

  • Identify coping strategies, which includes maintaining healthier boundaries (e.g. enabling behaviours).

  • Connect with others, enabling individuals to meet with other people that share similar circumstances of addiction in the family.

The programme consists of 14 groups sessions, 3 mandatory one-to-one sessions and 3 optional one-to-one sessions with a trained facilitator. Participants have access to an online RFUK Hub and an RFUK Reflective Toolkit. On completion of the programme, they can also be referred to the Forward Connect service, accessible via the Forward App.

Who do we help?

The RFUK online programme is suitable for individuals who:

  • Are aged 18 and over.

  • Are impacted by someone else’s addiction.

  • Have access to the internet.
