About Recovery Online

For over 30 years, The Forward Trust has been delivering drug and alcohol recovery programmes in the community and criminal justice system.

We have a proven delivery model to help people transform their lives when they are living with significant and life-threatening addictions. As a result, thousands of people don’t just manage to enter recovery, which is a huge achievement as it is – they remain in recovery, too.

With this in mind, we believe that structured rehabilitation programmes should be offered to anyone that needs and deserves this sort of support. This is why we developed Recovery Online; anyone, anywhere can access our programmes.

Recovery Online is designed to appeal to everyone, but it’s particularly helpful to those with challenges or responsibilities including:

  • Agoraphobia (fear of leaving the house).

  • Caring responsibilities.

  • Childcare commitments.

  • A disability and/or medical issues.

  • Financial constraints. (Recovery Online is more affordable than residential rehab programmes).

  • Pet care.

  • Transport and travel constraints.

  • Work restrictions.

  • People who are on the move a lot, e.g. with work commitments.

What we offer

Inspired by our programme at the renowned and hugely successful Clouds House residential rehab in Wiltshire, Recovery Online is a 12-week structured programme. It is brought directly to you in online group therapy and personalised support through specialised addiction treatment led by experts in the field.

The group programme is accessed online wherever the client is at the time. It is typically delivered during weekdays: three days-a-week, five hours-a-day.

Our treatment approach is monitored and evaluated by our in-house Research and Development team. Following the pilot of Recovery Online, participants showed significant improvements in mental health and addictive behaviours. This is reflected in their assessment scores:

  • An 88% increase in resilience scores.

  • A 93% reduction in anxiety scores (measured using the GAD-7 assessment tool).

  • An 88% reduction in depression scores (measured using the PHQ-9 assessment tool).

At Recovery Online, aftercare is an important consideration, and so we encourage all graduates to join Forward’s thriving peer-led community, Forward Connect.

Who Do We Help?R

Recovery Online is open to individuals who:

  • Are aged 18 and over.

  • Free from mind-altering substances at the start of the programme.

  • Want support with their recovery and addiction - whether it’s to alcohol, drugs, or gambling.

People can either self-refer or be referred through their local health and care commissioners. For private clients, the cost to enrol on this 12-week course is £3,000 and you can make an application today.

Please note that an online assessment is made before the start of the programme to ensure each client is ready to begin the programme. Any prescribed medication must be noted as part of the initial assessment.

If, for any reason, an individual is not deemed eligible for the programme, we will provide onward signposting to other appropriate services. All referrals will be considered and managed on a case–by-case basis to ensure suitability and safety.
