Recently, The Forward Trust Employability Team in East Kent hosted our “Well Worth It” event, bringing together a wide range of organisations to support participants on our employability programme.
The event provided practical advice, tips, and guidance to help participants overcome barriers and take positive steps in their personal and professional lives.
Our goal was to offer support for the challenges participants face, especially during the colder winter months. From health and wellbeing to financial guidance and mental health support, we wanted to ensure everyone left feeling informed, supported, and ready to take the next steps.
We were joined by multiple expert providers, each offering tailored guidance to help participants tackle their unique challenges:
KMMH Trust: Expert guidance on health and wellbeing, offering practical advice tailored to individual needs.
Oasis Domestic Abuse Service: Support and resources to help participants recognise and address domestic abuse.
ROAR: Recovery support, connection, and hope for individuals, families, and communities affected by addiction.
Thanet Safe Haven: Mental health support in a safe and welcoming environment, with practical guidance and resources.
National Careers Service: Advice on careers, training, and employability to help participants explore opportunities and plan their next steps.
Helping Hands KCC: Practical support under Kent County Council’s Financial Hardship programme, including Digital Kent services.
Thanet Family Hubs: Guidance and resources for parenting, family wellbeing, and accessing local services.
Barclays LifeSkills: Support with employability, financial management, and personal development.
SEK: Tailored support on skills development, employability, and personal growth.
Rethink: Guidance and resources to improve mental wellbeing and resilience.
During the colder months, we know many participants face additional challenges. To help, our team provided food donations for those struggling, ensuring everyone could take something home to support their wellbeing during the colder months.
The event was also enhanced by the generosity of our community and local charities:
Mamma to Mama: Warm blankets and hand-made crochet teddy bears.
Mayas Free Shop Warehouse: Additional donations, including warm coats and jumpers.
Local community providing warm clothing, books and toys.
Thanks to these contributions, participants left with essential items that supported their wellbeing, provided warmth, and brought a little extra comfort and joy this winter.
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Many participants commented that they felt more informed, supported, and empowered after attending the event. Sessions on financial management, health, mental wellbeing, and skills development provided practical tools participants can use every day.
The Well Worth It event was a huge success, showing the power of collaboration between experts, charities, and the local community. We are excited to announce that we are planning another event in January, continuing our commitment to supporting participants on their journey to personal and professional success.
