A month-long programme of workshops, creative activities, recovery shares and celebrations will take place at The Brink this September, bringing people together to connect, reflect and celebrate recovery during Recovery Month.

Drawing on the power of lived experience, creativity and peer support, the programme offers a welcoming space for anyone affected by addiction to engage with recovery-focused activities in the heart of Liverpool.

Located in Liverpool city centre, The Brink is the UK's first dry bar and has become an important community hub for people seeking addiction support, maintaining their recovery, or simply looking for an alcohol-free and welcoming space. Offering a range of coffees, mocktails and freshly prepared food, the café welcomes visitors from across Liverpool, Merseyside and beyond.

Throughout Recovery Month, clients and visitors will be able to take part in a wide range of recovery-focused, therapeutic and creative sessions designed to inspire hope, build confidence and strengthen recovery. All events are free and open to the general public, and no tickets are required.

The programme (listed below) includes weekly relapse prevention workshops, recovery share sessions featuring guest speakers with lived experience, creative writing activities, recovery-focused workshops and opportunities for people to express their recovery journey through art, poetry, music and spoken word.

A special highlight of the month will be The Brink's 15th birthday celebration, providing an opportunity to recognise the positive impact the venue has had on thousands of people and families over the past decade and a half. Visitors will also be invited throughout the month to contribute to a collaborative artwork titled, "Letting Go: Like Leaves in the Wind", sharing something they have learned to let go of during recovery. The completed artwork will be unveiled at the end of September.

The programme culminates with several creative events, including an Expressions of Recovery showcase, an open mic night, and collaborative art projects focused on accomplishment, resilience and personal growth in recovery.

Cass Chidlow, Regional Manager, said:

"Recovery Month is an important opportunity to celebrate the strength, resilience and achievements of people in recovery across Liverpool and Merseyside. At The Brink, we are proud to provide a welcoming and inclusive space where people can connect, share their experiences and support one another.

"For 15 years, The Brink has been a place where people across Liverpool and Merseyside can find support, community and hope for the future.”

Visitors can contribute throughout the month to the collaborative ‘Letting Go: Like Leaves in the Wind’ artwork by dropping into The Brink and sharing something they have learned to let go of in their recovery.

Every session during recovery month is open; no referral or advance booking needed.
