James Parker, Head of Community Services Substance Misuse, has stated our involvement in new community drug and alcohol services in North Northamptonshire.
I am delighted to confirm that Forward has been commissioned by North Northamptonshire Council to deliver a community rehab programme and build a brand new Lived Experience Recovery Organisation [LERO] in the area.
We will be delivering drug and alcohol support services for adults in partnership with Change Grow Live, Family Support Link and Release.
We will be bringing our successful day rehab programme to North Northampton as part of the new treatment system, meaning more individuals will have access to the transformational change that intensive treatment programmes can bring.
The new Lived Experience Recovery Organisation will be built by people in recovery, for people in recovery. It’ll be a space to connect, grow, and support one another in recovery from addiction — creating a real sense of belonging in the community.
Today is a landmark for Forward in that this is the first time that we will be delivering services in the North Northamptonshire area and the LERO will be the second one that we have helped to create in the UK.
With more than 30 years of experience working with people living with addiction to get into recovery and build positive and productive lives, we are looking forward to delivering our transformational services and helping to shape recovery in North Northamptonshire.
Lived experience initiatives and recovery support services (RSS) support people in recovery and their families and benefit the wider community. They offer practical and emotional support to meet a person’s needs and build on their strengths.
Some RSS are delivered by treatment providers, some by lived experience recovery organisations (LEROs), and some by a combination of both.
