Professionals working across addiction treatment, health and social care are invited to visit The Forward Trust’s two residential treatment centres this autumn.
Two of the UK’s leading residential addiction treatment centres managed by The Forward Trust will be opening their doors to visitors as part of the national Open Houses campaign.
The Bridges, Hull and Clouds House, Wiltshire will be taking part in the campaign, which aims to improve access to residential treatment services in England and provide a chance to see recovery in action.
Open Houses is an opportunity for commissioners, clinicians, policymakers and partner organisations to meet people who live and work in rehab, with a number of residential partners hosting open events.

The open days will provide an opportunity for visitors to explore the service, meet members of the teams, and learn more about how residential treatment works within wider recovery pathways.
Visitors will gain insights into the structured treatment programmes, the breadth of therapeutic support provided to clients, and see the physical spaces first-hand.
Despite national guidance recognising the value of residential rehabilitation within a wider treatment system, access remains limited. The Open Houses campaign highlights that just 1% of people in drug and alcohol treatment access state-funded residential rehab each year, despite evidence demonstrating its effectiveness.

"I have long been an advocate for residential rehabilitation for people struggling with addiction. Residential treatment is expensive, which means places will inevitably be limited. But it does provide the time, space and intensity of treatment that is often needed to build long-term recovery. We need to make sure it remains a meaningful part of our treatment system.
"Scotland has made significant progress in recent years, with publicly funded residential placements increasing by 60% since 2021/22. In England and Wales, however, residential rehabilitation still accounts for only a very small proportion of treatment provision.
"I’m pleased to see the launch of Open Houses – an initiative giving people the opportunity to see for themselves what residential rehabilitation looks like and how it works. Residential programmes - including The Forward Trust projects, Clouds House and The Bridges - across the country are opening their doors, with dates available for anyone interested in visiting."
