Our supplier, Beacon, informed us earlier this week that they have experienced a cyber security incident.
Below is a short message from our Head of Fundraising, Sharon Coleman, which has also been sent to anyone who may have been directly affected by this data incident.
Beacon is our fundraising client relationship management database. Only information related to your donations or fundraising support are held in this database.
Details on the system include name, contact details, and date of birth. No passwords or bank details are stored in the system.
No further details that The Forward Trust may hold about you are held in the system.
Beacon informed us that there has been unauthorised access to their systems and they continue to investigate.
As the compromised data is considered low risk, The Forward Trust is not legally required to inform you, but we value transparency, so we are informing you nevertheless.
Beacon is a respected system used by thousands of charities. It is fully certified for ISO 27001:2022, the leading global standard for information security. This certification verifies that Beacon follows strict, audited processes to keep charity and donor data safe. In addition to ISO 27001, the platform also holds Cyber Essential Plus Certification. Unfortunately, no system is ever 100% failsafe.
We will publish an update to this item and let any affected persons know if there are any updates you need to know about.
