Whitley Bay Golf Club will host a special Charity Golf Day on Thursday 28th May in memory of Jonny Jones (1989–2025), raising funds for The Forward Trust’s Bridges residential rehab service in Hull.

Whitley Bay Golf Club is looking forward to hosting a Charity Golf Day on Thursday 28th May in memory of Jonny Jones (1989-2025), in aid of The Forward Trust’s Bridges residential rehab in Hull.

Jonny joined the Whitley Bay Golf Club as a youngster and went on to become an accomplished golfer. He was born with Arthrogryposis and with the support and expertise of the NHS, family and friends, Jonny achieved a handicap of 4.

In 2019 Jonny won the Disabled British Open held at Stratford Park. He played for the European Team in the Phoenix Cup in the USA in the 90s and captained the winning team in Scotland in 2020. Jonny was also a valued member of the Whitley Bay Greens Team and is remembered for both his talent and his positivity around the club. He always had a sunny disposition on the course and in the clubhouse - the essence of a good golfer.

The event will see 66 players across 17 teams compete for the JJ Charity Golf Day Trophy, with the first tee beginning at 11am. The day will also include prizes for Nearest the Pin and Longest Drive, alongside a raffle, silent auction and charity bunker to help raise additional funds for recovery services.

Auction prizes include a signed Lee Westwood cap and glove, golf vouchers for Whitley Bay, Tynemouth and the Dalmahoy Championship Course, a golf lesson with Senior PGA Professional Sally Hinton, and many more generously donated items.

Everyone is warmly invited to come along and support the day. The Meet Me On The Corner Café will also be open in the clubhouse throughout the event.
