Craig first received support from The Forward Trust whilst serving time in prison. On release, he was referred to our residential rehab, The Bridges - Hull, to continue his recovery journey. He successfully completed the full 24-week programme and graduated in 2007, going on to make strong decisions about how he wanted to live life.
After leaving The Bridges – Hull, Craig received help from Forward to secure full-time employment and he’s enjoyed a successful career as a maintenance operative ever since. Craig also ended up tying the knot and has a family.
Through the national Forward Connect community, Craig stays in touch with other graduates from The Bridges – Hull. It’s all about swapping stories, finding identification, guidance and support in others’ experiences – everything a strong community needs to be.
For its hundreds of members across England and Wales, Forward Connect is a great way of keeping in touch with like-minded people and having a pool of people available to chat or listen if or when the need arises.
On his time spent with The Forward Trust, Craig said:
“I try and visit The Bridges a couple of times a year to do some volunteering. It’s nice to give back to the place that helped me get back on my feet ... Being a part of Forward Connect is a great way of keeping in touch and hearing about people’s lives beyond rehabilitation.”
