Challenging the stigma surrounding drugs, alcohol and other addictions at your workplace
The Forward Trust delivers information sessions to help challenge the stigma surrounding addiction in the workplace.
Talented employees are often overlooked as a result, with people quitting work, or worse being asked to leave simply because everyone is unclear on how best to deal with the situation; and whether to treat addiction as a disciplinary or mental health and well-being issue. Research commissioned by The Forward Trust suggests as many as 45% of all UK adults are affected by addiction or dependency – either personally or through someone close to them that is.
Research suggests that this problem is both widespread and challenging; is it something that you can truly continue to ignore within your workplace? The Forward Trust works passionately to help break the stigma surrounding addiction and are now launching a new campaign within the workplace which is aiming to:
– Break the silence that surrounds addiction at work. Raising awareness of the disease and challenging the stigma associated with it so that more people can get help.
– Provide clear information to employers, so they can understand that addiction is not a choice but a serious mental health issue and that with the right support and guidance people at risk can go onto thrive at work.
– Suggest preventative measures that organisations can take to promote good mental health at work and ensure problems are identified and addressed as early as possible.
– Tell you more about the work that The Forward Trust is doing and how we help people that are struggling.
