About HMP Brixton
HMP Brixton is an all-male category C/D prison located in the London Borough of Lambeth, South London.
Our programmes and services
At HMP Brixton, we offer a range of psychosocial interventions to help clients address their substance use.
Our services include:
- ‘The Bridge Programme’ – an intensive and abstinence-based programme focusing on the journey to recovery and long-term treatment.
- ‘Family Services’ - our family workers sit within treatment teams, helping service users to strengthen relationships with family, friends, and wider social networks.
- ‘Relationships Matter Programme’ - a series of workshops designed to improve interpersonal relationships and restore healthy communication.
- Naloxone training.
- ChemSex support.
- Peer support and mutual aid, such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), and Cocaine Anonymous (CA).
- Release planning and goal setting.
- Recovery and reintegration services.
- Individual key working sessions.
- Wide range of standalone workshops and in-cell packs aimed at harm minimisation, risk reduction, and relapse prevention.

In HMP Brixton, we work with the following organisations to provide our services:
Referrals
Any prison resident can refer themselves (‘self-refer’) to the service. If a staff member or third party makes a referral, we will assess the service user if they agree to engage. All residents of the prison are seen as part of their induction.
