The Forward Trust’s new Impact Report: A year of progress, innovation, and life-changing support

The Forward Trust are delighted to bring you our latest impact report, revealing some remarkable achievements over the past year. The report highlights our continued growth, expansion of services, and innovative initiatives that have empowered thousands of individuals across the UK.

A record reach and growing impact

In a standout year, The Forward Trust supported over 28,000 individuals – an increase of 6,000 people compared to the previous year. This marks the charity’s highest reach ever, underscoring its growing presence and impact across the nation. The breadth of the charity’s services, which now span far and wide, offers vital support to individuals who need it most. This expanded reach includes clients receiving assessments, learning new skills, gaining vital support, and securing stable tenancies, helping them rebuild their lives after addiction and social exclusion.

Outstanding feedback and completion rates

Feedback from clients has been overwhelmingly positive, with 98% rating their experience as excellent or good. This speaks volumes about the quality of the services provided, which is further evidenced by the high completion rates across Forward’s various programmes. These outcomes reinforce the Trust’s commitment to making a real and lasting difference in people’s lives.

Introducing Recovery Online

A key highlight of this year’s report is the launch of Recovery Online, a new digital initiative aimed at supporting individuals in recovery who may not be able to access traditional in-person services. The programme has been a game-changer for many, offering flexibility and support at the touch of a button. One inspiring testimonial comes from Katie Cole, a former participant from East Kent:

“I felt so isolated and desperate that I would never get the treatment I needed. Forward offered me a place on the online programme and it literally saved my life! It enabled me to reconnect with life and meet like-minded people. Now I am living in recovery. I have a job, I volunteer, I am studying and able to pass on my experience, strength, and hope to those who need it.”

Katie’s story is a powerful reminder of how vital digital programmes like Recovery Online are for those who might otherwise miss out on life-saving support.

Supporting our graduates

The Forward Trust has seen growth in its Forward Connect network, now with over 4,400 members nationwide. This community is central to the charity’s mission to offer ongoing support, facilitate connections, and help individuals build a sense of belonging. A highlight of the year was the National Reunion, which brought together more than 400 people for a day of connection and celebration.

The report also celebrates significant anniversaries for two of Forward’s key services. The Bridges Hull, marked its 20th anniversary. This milestone represents two decades of transforming lives and supporting people on their journey to recovery. Similarly, Clouds House, our Wiltshire rehab service, is celebrating its 40th anniversary, further cementing Forward’s long-standing role in supporting individuals with addiction issues.

Moving forward

Looking ahead, The Forward Trust continues to focus on delivering high-quality services that empower individuals to turn their lives around. With new initiatives, ongoing development, and a commitment to inclusion, the charity is set to make even more strides in the coming year.
