Recovery Walk & Festival 24 – London
With the sun shining and spirits high, we took over Crystal Palace Park at the national FAVOR Recovery Walk in celebration that recovery is possible.
We were delighted to be joined by Forward Connect members, volunteer and trainees who are part of our nationwide community of current and former clients making progress on their own recovery, and Forward staff, who had travelled from across the country to take part in the walk.
Jeanette was part of a group of Forward Trust staff, clients and volunteers who had travelled all the way from Hull to London to be part of the walk. Here Jeanette shares her thoughts about what it meant to her to be there;
(Sending all our love to Janette as she celebrates her 2nd anniversary and big thanks for being an amazing peer supporter.)
The walk and festival brought together so many people, all at different stages of their own recovery, from current clients at the very early stages of their journey, to those who have been in recovery for a decade or more. All sharing their stories; listening, encouraging, supporting, and inspiring each other.
Sam and Chantel helped create the festival vibe with a table dedicated to friendship bands making and face glitter.
Passersby who were just out on their usual Saturday walk through the park, stopped to chat and make bracelets, and were keen to hear about the work we do to support people in recovery.
A special shout out to our volunteer Sam who turned everyone into the festive sprit with her glitter paint and transfers – and to volunteers Anita and Clive who helped to manage the Forward Trust information table.
Thanks to FAVOR and partners who made the day so memorable for everyone. See you next year!
