Navigating Careers with Forward Trust during National Careers Week 2024
Our social media posts will highlight the work we’re doing in alignment with these themes, showcasing our commitment to empowering individuals on their career journeys. For instance, Motivational Monday will delve into discovering enjoyable career paths, while Your Future Friday will concentrate on setting and achieving career goals.
At the heart of Forward Trust’s Employment Services lies Careers Information, Advice, and Guidance (CIAG). We operate based on key principles aimed at ensuring individuals are equipped with the knowledge and support they need to pursue fulfilling careers:
Starting Strong: We kick off our Adult Education programs with comprehensive Careers Advice sessions, accompanied by specialised Master Classes tailored to various sectors like Green Skills. This ensures learners have a clear understanding of their career pathways from the outset.
Aspiration meets Reality: Our CIAG Advisors, operating across 11 prisons, employ dynamic career resources to inspire incarcerated learners. By highlighting the link between improving core skills such as Maths and English and accessing desired careers, we empower individuals to transform their lives positively.
Advocating for Quality Work: Our Restart Employment Advisors prioritise sustainable employment opportunities, partnering with employers who offer fair terms and conditions, including advocating for the Real Living Wage. Our goal is to enable our learners to achieve financial independence and reduce reliance on benefits.
Lifelong Learning Advocates: Through our Multiply and Adult Education programs, we encourage continuous learning and development. From recommending educational apps for self-study to providing ongoing support, we foster a culture of lifelong learning.
Building Bridges with Employers: We collaborate closely with committed employer partners to provide valuable opportunities such as insight sessions, mock interviews, and mentorship programs. Recent collaborations include leveraging the expertise of organisations like Minna Technologies and the Financial Times to prepare learners for the job market.
Diversifying Pathways: Recognising that traditional education may not suit everyone, we promote alternative pathways such as apprenticeships and entrepreneurship. Through partnerships with apprenticeship providers and master classes on business setup and self-employment, we empower individuals to explore diverse avenues to success.
