More Than My Past Podcast Series 2
Since its launch in 2020, the More Than My Past podcast has explored the inspirational stories of people who have overcome addiction or offending. The podcast is back for a new series which will look deeper into some of the issues the podcast has raised to date.
Forward Trust director of Recovery and Housing Julie Muir joins regular host, actor Jason Flemyng, in new episodes exploring themes such as housing, family, employment, prison release and more. An impressive cast of interviewees includes former criminal and gang member turned record producer, label owner and entrepreneur Corey Johnson, ex-heroin addict turned university academic Liz Jones, former addict and prisoner turned renowned fundraiser Michael ‘Speedo Mick’ Cullen, and former prisoner turned actor (on the stage, and in Netflix’s acclaimed series Top Boy) Michael Balogun.
There’s also a fascinating policy-focussed special episode featuring former Minister for Prisons Rory Stewart speaking to Forward Chief Executive Mike Trace alongside Muir about his time in charge of Britain’s prisons. The aforementioned guests also discuss their views on potential policy reform to tackle the social problems of addiction and crime as the podcast seeks to identify ways we could improve our approach to the issues it spotlights.
