Clouds House Christmas Carol Service (12th December 2024)

On Thursday 12th December, the Clouds House Christmas Carol Service took place at St Mary’s Church, East Knoyle. Now a firm fixture in the church calendar, St Mary’s has very kindly opened its doors to Clouds over the last couple of years, enabling us to all celebrate Christmas together.

The carol service was extremely well attended again this year with a packed church including residents, staff, volunteers and alumni from Clouds House. We were delighted that many people from East Knoyle and the local community also joined us.

The Congregation enjoyed heartfelt and emotional shares by previous residents of Clouds, alongside beautiful Christmas music by the East Knoyle Community Choir. Local celebratory Hermione Norris delivered an inspiring reading and after the service the congregation were invited to stay for tea, coffee and other delicious festive treats.

Although addiction is widespread – and now recognised as a serious mental health disorder – it is still one of the few illnesses where people are often blamed for their condition or shamed into silence because of the stigma surrounding the disease.

Access to critical, and sometimes lifesaving residential rehabilitative care, is still often tied to people’s ability to pay, with thousands being denied treatment each year simply because they cannot afford decent rehabilitative support.

At Clouds House, we firmly believe that money should never be a barrier to receiving the help you need. For this reason, we try each year to increase the size of our bursary fund so we can support some of the most vulnerable people in our society with lifesaving, transformative clinical and therapeutic care.

Thanks to people’s kind generosity, Clouds House has already raised more than £3,500 from the carol service winter appeal. If you are able to make a donation please click here for more information.
