Celebrating Pride Month at The Forward Trust
First started in 1970, Pride Month is a month-long awareness campaign to commemorate Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer or Questioning or the Community (LGBTQ+) culture and rights – ensuring that more people can become better advocates, allies and supporters.
In our frontline services, we know that addiction does not discriminate – and neither do we. We’re focused on supporting everyone that attends one of our services and we work with the whole person to ensure we can provide a service that works for them. See our list of support services.
Our event schedule includes attendance at Pride Month events – from Hull to Canterbury – among others.
- 6th June
LGBTQIA+ Wellbeing in the City – The Brink, Liverpool - 8th June
Pride March – Canterbury and Thurrock - 21st June
‘Pride in our community’ event – HMP Rye Hill - 22nd June
Pride Festival – Bury St Edmonds - 29th June
Pride march – Hull - 10th August
Pride march – Margate
We have also been able to host online workshops and share useful resources with staff – see The Genderbread Person – poster which provides a quick guide to develop understanding of gender, sex, identity and expression – a great way to start and initiate conversations about LGBTQ+ culture in your community.
We’re also promoting the excellent ‘Pride and Beyond’ podcasts available for free via the We Create Space website: https://www.wecreatespace.co/pride-and-beyond-podcast
We will add new photos and event summaries to this page as they roll in – please keep checking back for updates!
