Sharon’s story

I’ve worked at Forward since 2013. I had previously really struggled to get a decent job due to my criminal record. I initially started as a Grounds Maintenance Operative and after a short time, started to work on the Bulky Waste Contract between Blue Sky and London Borough of Hillingdon.

Working at Forward has given me a sense of responsibility and renewed confidence in myself and my abilities

My duties involve collecting fly tips, undertaking special collections such as unwanted furniture and delivering garden waste and recycling bags to households. During my employment with Forward, I obtained my full driving licence which resulted in my promotion to a Supervisor, which is great.

I really enjoy my work as no two days are the same and I get to meet different people all the time. Working at Forward has given me a sense of responsibility and renewed confidence in myself and my abilities, and I feel so much happier in myself. I am very grateful that Forward gave me a chance to get back in to work.
